Kimberly Tam, born in New York City, began her dance training at The American School for the Performing Arts, affiliate to Steps on Broadway, The Mason Gross School of the Arts, and The State University of New York. She started her performance experience as the captain of the Fast Trax Dance Company, originally know as Ballet La’ Jennesse. Kim later earned the title of Founder/Artistic Director for the Performance Company, American Dance Theatre, NJ. Simultaneously, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Media and a minor in Communication Information Studies and graduated, cum laude from Rutgers University. Kimberly continued dancing, instructing, and performing throughout the country as well as Europe. She performed with a contemporary Graham Company under the direction of Lynn Barr (Tour 510, Prague, Czech Republic) and with the European Phil Harmonic as the opening piece for the 10th Annual Music Festival “Nights of Music,” (featured in Dance Teacher Magazine) alongside REQUIEM FUR BONHOEFFER, Germany’s Ricardo Viviani (Bohemia). Ms. Tam, a former assistant editor of Dance Magazine New York, spent five years as a Ballet and Contemporary Jazz choreographer/instructor for New Jersey’s prestigious, American Repertory Ballet’s, Princeton Ballet School. There, she was involved with “Dance Power” a collaborative educational project sponsored by ARB and the New Brunswick Board of Education, with the late Gregory Hines as its honorary national Chair. During this time she was the assistant choreographer and instructor for the Billboard Award winning, MTV’s “Choreographer of the Year” recipient and Broadway choreographer, Jamale Graves. Other credits include extensive training with her mentor, ARB and Omaha Ballet’s Leigh-Ann Roth, Martha Graham’s, Wendy Stein and New York City Ballet’s, Annie Ditmars. For several years Kim was the executive Chair on the Board of directors for MTV’s America Best Dance Crew contestant, FR3SH Dance Troupe. Currently, she is the founder/owner of UFP Dance LLC., one of the most elite hip-hop company’s on the east coast. Kimberly is extremely excited to continue her professional dance career alongside Amy Crowe as owners of “Arts In Motion Academy.”
