Hip Hop
Madelyn is a Jersey native who began her dance journey at three years old. Maddie attended The Rock School for Dance Education, where she refined her ballet and pointe technique through an intensive six-day-a-week training program. During high school, she shifted her focus toward hip-hop and began training under her mentor, Kenny “Clutch” Thomas, studying foundational styles including locking, popping, house, and krump. In 2017, Maddie began her college career at Rutgers University, studying Biotechnology, while also joining hip-hop team Raps Dance Troupe (RDT). Through RDT, she competed at events including Elements Boston and Prelude East Coast and discovered the power of freestyle and individuality. Maddie was promoted to co-director, a role she held for three years while simultaneously completing her Master of Business and Science degree. After graduating, Maddie chose to refocus her dance journey on being a student, challenging herself to step outside of her comfort zone and explore new forms of movement. This led her to IMGE Dance Company, a genre-blurring company that brings together Indian and American classical, folk, and street styles. IMGE owner/director, Ishita Mili, coincidently danced/choreographed for several seasons with AIM Academy’s HipHop dance company, UFP. With IMGE, Maddie has been featured in Vogue and Vanity Fair, performed across Off-Broadway, regional, and national stages, and worked on several commercial videos and events. Today, Maddie continues to grow as both a dancer and educator. Above all, Maddie strives to be a reliable, ever-evolving artist who approaches every opportunity with curiosity, dedication, and an open mind. She is passionate about building genuine relationships within the dance community and helping others work through challenges, find confidence, and embrace their own individuality as dancers. Maddie is looking forward to sharing her passion for dance and creating with her students at AIM Academy!
